Five Things Friday

Happy Friday! My favorite day of the week. This week flew by. Here's five random things from me today!

one. 08.06.05
Tomorrow this guy and I will be celebrating 11 years of wedded bliss! Happy Anniversary, Chris. I love our life with our sweet and energetic boys. I hit the husband jackpot, and I know it! I am  thankful for this man by my side, every single day. He's my best friend, and I shutter to think about what life would be like if he had not been persistent in pursuing me (I turned him down three times, before giving in to his charms, what was I thinking)?
It's crazy to me how fast this 11 years has flown by, and when I think forward 11 years from now we will have a 20, 17, 14, and 12 year old. Wow, life will look a little different. I want to embrace the season I'm in, because all too quickly I will be on to different things. Thank you for loving me so well! I love you and I love our life together!

two. 12 days until school starts.
NO! I love having my boys home with me all.the.time. I'm not ready to leave these fun summer days behind. I'm not ready for daily lunch packing, and being back on a school schedule. I'm not in the norm of momma's who are getting excited for back to school. So, I'm trying to make a list of the things I still want to do with my boys before they head back to school (as a 4th and 1st grader). More lazy summer pool days are definitely in our future.

three. Miller J. Fields Splash Park.
I took the boys to the splash park Wednesday. This was our first time there and it was a success. Fun was had by all four of my kiddos, so I would say the city did an awesome job making this a fun place for varying ages. It is hard for me to find things that my 9 year old and 1 year old find fun. If you live in the Lee's Summit area this is a must for your summer fun list.

four. shaved ice for the win. After the splash park my friend, Becca, and I headed to the shaved ice stand. Becca came prepared with 9 free small shaved ice vouchers, saving us $27! So, better yet, Becca for the win! Nothing tastes better after you've been at the splash park, during a heat advisory, than an ice cold shaved ice! Tiger's Blood was my flavor of choice and it tasted oh so good! I think we'll have to head back there a couple more times before summer is over.

five. books I'm reading.
Bringing Up Boys by Dr. James Dobson. No explanation needed! I have four boys, this book is a no brainer ;) I'm also doing the companion 4 week study with a group of fellow boy mom friends. It has been so good, that I am going to do the study with a second set of boy mom friends because I feel that shaping the next generation of men is such an important task that everyone raising boys must do this study! I am thoroughly enjoying this book, and have learned a lot of interesting things along the way.

The 15 Minute Organizer by Emilie Barnes. Apparently I need this book in my life. This week I wanted to go renew my driver's license (it expires on my birthday next month). So, I was rounding up the paperwork I needed and my social security card was no where to be found. All this time, I thought I knew exactly where it was. So, I spent the day looking in all the spots I thought it could be. After hours searching, I admitted defeat and drove myself to the Social Security office to get a new card (7-10 days from now I'll be in good shape).

Yesterday, I was looking for my CD of wedding images (the ones you don't want to lose, irreplaceable CD with every image our wedding photographer took at our wedding). Well, same story as my social security card, the 2 CD's weren't where I thought they were. Thankfully, after 30 minutes of frantically searching I found them, in their case, in my bedside table. I'm thankful they are safe and sound. Operation get myself organized starts NOW!

Happy Weekend!
